The chairman of ICRS 2018 was Prof. Yingfang Ao from Peking University Third Hospital, and the Science Program chairmen were Professor Susan Chubinskaya from Rush University Medical Center and Professor Christian Lattermann from the University of Kentucky. Nearly one thousand experts and scholars in the field of cartilage research around the world attended the conference.
During the conference, many timely issues of cartilage research were discussed, including the early diagnosis of osteoarthritis, individualized medication to promote cartilage health, prevention and rehabilitation of secondary osteoarthritis after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, implantation of autologous chondrocytes, etc. In addition, some novel physiotherapies, including the use of new exercise therapy and lower limb braces, have also induced new perspectives in rehabilitation researchers and therapists.
Prof. Shang has been leading a research team working on exercise-based rehabilitation for patients with chronic diseases such as knee osteoarthritis, dementia and cardiovascular diseases. “As a graduate student, I am very honored and excited to have the opportunity to report our team’s achievement at this international congress.” said Ms. Chen.
