Peking University School of Nursing Delegation Visits Yale School of Nursing

The delegation led by Professor Shang Shaomei, Dean of Peking University School of Nursing, visited the Yale School of Nursing from March 31 to April 2. The delegation included Asso. Dean and Professor Hou Shuxiao, Asso. Dean Zhou Jing, Professor Li Mingzi, Professor Wang Zhiwen, Research Professor Wan Qiaoqin and Asso. Professor Chen Hua.

The signing ceremony took place on the morning of April 1 at the Yale School of Nursing. Professor LaRon Nelson, Associate Dean for Global Health, opened the event with a warm welcome, underscoring the interdisciplinary scope of the partnership and its profound implications for global health. Azita Emami, Dean of the Yale School of Nursing, highlighted the historical ties between Peking University and Yale, expressing confidence that the partnership will contribute to healthier lives locally, nationally, and globally. Don Filer, Associate Vice President for Global Strategy at Yale, extended a hearty welcome to the Peking University Nursing School delegation, noting that the collaboration promises to benefit communities across China, the United States, and the globe.

Professor Shang Shaomei, in her speech, reflected on the friendly exchanges between the two schools and expressed her anticipation and confidence in the future cooperation. She stated that the agreement signifies not only a friendly exchange between the two nursing schools but also a significant event in the collaboration between the two universities, between two nations and hoping making contributions to the nursing profession in large.

Following the signing ceremony, the delegation participated in a symposium titled "Unveiling Synergies: Exploring Interdisciplinary Research and Collaboration between Yale & Peking University." Prof. Xiaomei Cong, Associate Dean for Research at Yale, presented the research directions and principal investigators at Yale, while Zhou Jing, Associate Dean of Peking University Nursing School, introduced the school's development history, research areas, and principal investigators. This exchange significantly enhanced mutual comprehension of research interests, establishing a solid groundwork for future collaborative endeavors.

The delegation also visited simulation teaching center, Cushing Library. On April 2, the delegation attend discussions on research collaboration with researchers across campus.
